Remedy-in-Place at Closed Firing Ranges, FE Warren AFB, WY

FE Warren AFB is a 5,863-acre property that serves as an active US Air Force Base and Training Center. ECC safely excavated and stabilized 7,676 cubic yards of lead-contaminated soils, cleared 2,472 acres from surface munitions and explosives of concern (MEC), performed digital geophysical mapping and subsurface MEC clearance of 609 acres, conducted reacquisition/intrusive investigation of 19,091 target anomalies, disposed of 74 MEC items by intentional detonation, and processed 9,878 pounds of Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) for offsite disposal within a 2,832-acre site. Particularly challenging was High Vulnerability Area A, which included on-base housing areas within the exclusion zone for the munition with the greatest fragmentation distance.
