South Airfield Military Construction (MILCON) Projects, NAWS China Lake, CA

A series of earthquakes caused devastating damage to the Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake, located in a remote part of the Western Mojave Desert Region of California. As a result, a $2.3 billion Earthquake Recovery Program was established to support the mission to restore the installation to its full operational capacity. Under the program, ECC is building new and updated facilities, including hangars, an integration laboratory, an air traffic control tower, an apron, and a fire and rescue station. The task order, which combines six projects into one, marks the largest construction project under the program. Under a related but separate task order, the team constructed, operated, and maintained an 850-person temporary housing and full berthing camp for contractors supporting the effort.
